Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build truly AI-native systems, integrating artificial intelligence directly into production applications.

This role focuses on evolving how software is built—from assistive tools to agentic systems that automate reasoning, orchestrate workflows, and actively collaborate with humans.

The ideal candidate is an engineer with strong backend fundamentals, an architectural mindset, and a high capacity to adapt, eager to learn and apply advanced AI-driven development techniques in real-world environments.

Responsibilities

AI-Driven Systems Development

• Integrate agentic AI systems into production backend and web applications.

• Design systems where AI and humans collaborate effectively.

• Build applications powered by AI capabilities.

Backend Engineering and Architecture

• Develop solutions using Ruby on Rails and/or Python-based frameworks (FastAPI, Django, or similar).

• Design scalable, maintainable, and resilient systems.

• Work across APIs, background jobs, data pipelines, and frontend integrations.

Engineering Best Practices

• Apply testing, observability, performance, and reliability best practices.

• Maintain high-quality standards in production environments.

Innovation and Technology Evolution

• Adopt and apply advanced AI-driven development patterns.

• Help define new AI-native engineering practices.

• Explore ways to significantly increase productivity through AI.

Technical Requirements

Experience

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Experience building and maintaining production-grade web applications or APIs.

Programming and Technologies

• Strong experience in Ruby, Python, or both.

• Proficiency with modern frameworks (Ruby on Rails, Django, FastAPI, or similar).

• Strong fundamentals in:

  • System design

  • Data modeling

  • Testing

  • Production operations

AI and Emerging Technologies

• Experience using AI-assisted development tools.

• Interest in going beyond autocomplete toward AI-native systems.

• Strong architectural and scalability mindset.
